Navigating Medication Options for Smoking Cessation in Mental Health

Lesson Materials

Quitting tobacco is not an easy accomplishment for any person.  According to the Clinical Practice Guideline for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence (2008 update) "Clinicians should encourage all patients attempting to quit to use effective medications for tobacco dependence treatment, except where contraindicated or for specific populations for which there is insufficient evidence for effectiveness.".
With many different medications available, how do clinicians know which medication to recommend or prescribe?  This webinar course is designed to educate health professionals in mental health settings on the various tobacco treatment medication options available to consumers.  Viewers will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of each medication, the comparative cost of the different options, and review data on medication effectiveness.
